Cooking Stove Top: In a saucepan, bring 1.5 cups water to a boil. Stir in 1 cup of rice. Add 1 tsp of salt and 1 tsp margarine (optional). Cover. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes or until water is fully absorbed. For drier rice use 1/4 cup less water. For moister rice use 1/4 cup more water. Microwave Oven: Place 1 cup of rice in a bowl and then add 1 to 1.2 cups of water. More or less water can be used depending on the desired softness of the rice. Cover the bowl and steam in the microwave for 15 minutes on medium power. Remove the bowl from the microwave and let it cool for 10 minutes. Stir the rice and then serve. Electric Cooker: Add 1 cup of rice and 1 to 1.2 cups of water to the rice cooker. More or less water can be used depending on the desired softness of the rice. Turn on the electric cooker. Allow the rice to cook for an additional 10 minutes after the electric cooker switches off. Stir the rice and then serve. Pressure Cooker: Add 1 cup of rice and 1 to 1.2 cups of water to the pressure cooker. More or less water can be used depending on the desired softness of the rice. Cook until steam is coming from the air vent. Allow to cook for an additional 7 minutes then turn off the flame. Allow the pressure cooker to cool until it is safe to open it according to the appliance instructions. Stir the rice and then serve.
