Approximate number of servings ... 1- 2 ... 3- 4 ... 5- 6. Rice (cups) ... 1/2 ... 1 ... 1 1/2. Water (cups) ... 3/4 ... 1 1/2 ... 2 1/4. Salt (teaspoon) "optional ... 1/4 ... 1/2 ... 3/4. Oil or butter (tablespoons) "optional ... 1/2 ... 1 ... 1 1/2. Cooking Instructions: Stovetop Directions: 1. Use the chart above to measure. 2. Combine rice, water, salt," and oil" in a saucepan. Stir, bring to a boil and then cover. 3. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes or until all the water is absorbed. 4. Let stand for 5 minutes, covered. Fluff with a fork and serve. To retain vitamins, do not rinse before or drain after cooking. Microwave Directions: 1. Use the chart above to measure. 2. Combine rice, salt", and oil" in a microwaveable dish. Stir, cover and microwave on high (full power) for 6 minutes. Stir, cover and microwave on defrost (30% power) for 8 minutes or until all the water is absorbed. 3. Let stand for 5 minutes, covered. Fluff with a fork and serve. Microwave ovens vary. Times given are approximate. For best results: For firmer rice, use less water and simmer for a shorter time. For softer rice, use more water and simmer for a longer time.
