1.) Using a fine mesh sieve, rinse 1 cup rice under cold water for 1 minute and drain. 2.) Combine rice, 1 ¾ cups water or broth, and butter or oil (optional, but very tasty) in a 2 qt saucepan and bring to a boil. 3.) Cover with a tight-fitting lid. Reduce heat to maintain a low simmer and cook for 15 minutes. 4.) With lid on, remove from heat and let steam for 10 minutes. Fluff it up with a fork and dig in. Serves 4-5. Tip: If rice is too firm at the end of cooking, no big deal! Try adding 1-2 Tbsp. Water and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.
