Pernod Paris Liqueur - 750 Ml
Pernod is made from distillates of star anise and fennel, married with distillates of 14 herbs including chamomile, coriander and veronica. Pernod has a low liquorice content, which sets it apart from pastieses like Ricard and Pastis 51 which ave a pronounced liquorice flavor.
- Pungent aniseed and pronounced fennel with rooty liquorice. More rooty herbal notes are released with water.
- Pernod is actually a successor of absinthe, the potent liquor popular in the 19th century. The exotic bouquet, when tasted neat, is potent and bittersweet; with the addition of water, it turns milky-opaque and has a long, licorice-like finish.
- In 1805, Henri Louis Pernod founded the first French Absinthe Distillery in Pontarlier. From the first Maison Pernod-Fils distillery to the infamous absinthe ban, La Belle Epoque to the re-discovery of the original recipe, the rich history of the Maison Pernod spans more than two centuries. Almost one century after being prohibited, and after two years of research, Pernod recreates its distillery in Thuir and relaunches the original recipe “Recette Traditionnelle” inspired by a 19th century manuscript.
